Kiwini,
Over in the kani kapila forum I just invited the whole slack key world to Alaska for a weekend of their choice for a super-pickin time. Sorry, you cannot come....no way I could learn a danged thing with someone as funny as you around.

You forgot, too, that polar bear is the "other white meat"...as in, the one that EATS YOU!

OK, you can come, too.......just, no pidgin while we're pickin'.

Hey Karl, Eureka! I found this on a zoological site.

"The polar bear's skin is actually BLACK to absorb heat and the fur is white for camouflage." Ohh Happy Days! Arctic adobo.

So I guess that means that polar bears are meant to be cooked and you can sneak up on them without seeing them!

Howzit Mike,

Hey, I saw those elephant seals at Ano Nuevos. I noticed that they have a bark and can't run fast on land!

If i ever did have filipino food, i didn't know it, but if any batanes or anybody else ever comes to visit, and if i can get my wife away from the stove, you can cook us up your favorites. We got propane stoves, we got barrell stoves, we got stove-pipe hats, we got stove parts...had a wood stove once, but as soon as we lit the danged thing, it burned up. Sorry, Auntie.
We dont have a Ralph's, either, but lots of good groceries anyway, we keep a veggie garden, and those who actually like to catch and eat, can always find some fish nearby.

And, speaking of fishing, if any single ladies come up, here is a must-read book; Catch and Release, an Insider's Guide to ALaskan Men (the odds are good, but the goods are odd)

Don't let a Pilipina cook "thousand eyes" pilipino stuff -- whole house stink for years. Stir fried anchovies (or sometin) make big stink . No marry Pilipina you get BIG FAMILY in marriage too.

And don't let anyone tell you balut taste like hard boiled egg with a good cold San Miguel -- it no work brudda -- still get stink eye!

E nana, e ho'olohe. E pa'a ka waha, e hana ka lima.

Aloha e Mike!!
You marry filipina? You have many kids?? How funny.
I tried so hard to try stuff, but once they sauteed nice fresh chicken breast in nice fresh blood, I about lost it......
See you at Bill's if you've finished your travels by then.
