Before you get TOO excited, the DVD in question is Bob Mugge's 1987 documentary "Hawaiian Rainbow", a general history of Hawaiian music that includes three performances by Uncle Ray. Two are slack key pieces: "I Ka Po Me Ke Ao" (vocal, with a different arrangement taught in Keola Beamer's Homespun book) and "La Paloma" (a beautiful Spanish-influenced instrumental, the same arrangement as taught in Mark Hanson's book). The third piece, "Ke Kali Nei Au" (The Hawaiian Wedding Song), is a vocal duet with his wife, Elodia, in which Ray plays simple guitar accompaniment (not slack key).
This is a performance film, not a teaching video, so the camera isn't always on Ray's hands (or on Ray, for that matter). Still, for $6 delivered to your door, it can't be beat!
You'll find it at www.deepdiscountdvd.com, search for the DVD title.
BTW, if you have this film and Keola's book, it's interesting to contrast Ray's traditional singing style with Keola's more contemporary style in the two versions of "I Ka Po Me Ke Ao".
