I am really curious about the small guitars (?) that Daniel Ho and now George were playing.... and in what tunings... I would guess Daniel might use his "dgcgbe" method ... His book is nicely done, and even though I really didn't need another tuning... well I got it for grins...and grimaces.
but forgot to ask more about these cool sounding instruments... believe they were KoAloha.... almost a uke size...but 6 stings....and probably about a 4th or 5th higher in tuning pitch...
Those instruments are actually 6-string ukuleles, but they are tuned differently than a standard 6 string. They were collaboratively designed by Daniel Ho and KoAloha, I believe. Daniel tunes his to his own Kiluea tuning and I believe George had his tuned to Taropatch. I think we might've even had a picture of it here on TP. However, if you want more info, you can go on to KoAloha's website or Daniel's. Yes indeed, they were very cool!!!!
