I am really curious about the small guitars (?) that Daniel Ho and now George were playing....
and in what tunings...
I would guess Daniel might use his
"dgcgbe" method ...
His book is nicely done, and even though I really didn't need another tuning...
well I got it for grins...and grimaces.

but forgot to ask more about these cool sounding instruments...
believe they were KoAloha....
almost a uke size...but 6 stings....and probably about a 4th or 5th higher in tuning pitch...

Aloha Gordon,

Those instruments are actually 6-string ukuleles, but they are tuned differently than a standard 6 string. They were collaboratively designed by Daniel Ho and KoAloha, I believe. Daniel tunes his to his own Kiluea tuning and I believe George had his tuned to Taropatch. I think we might've even had a picture of it here on TP. However, if you want more info, you can go on to KoAloha's website or Daniel's. Yes indeed, they were very cool!!!!
