Just a question...since distribution is limited to contributors would press be beneficial at this point? Let's get as many tracks up on SoundClick as possible so that people who read the press can listen to them and THEN generate some publicity.
Speaking of which, CD contributors should visit this topic (Andy, can you make it sticky for a while?):

Jesse, remember to check the beginning and end of every cut. There should be at least 1/4 second and no more than 1/2 second of silence at the start of each cut (some CD audio players need this much or they will cut off the start of the song). There should also generally be a 7 to 10 second fade out and just a few seconds of silence at the end of each cut. You may find that there are quite a few cuts with longer heads and tails than this. If you can save as much as five seconds on a cut by "top and tailing" times 60 cuts gives you 300 seconds or 5 minutes of additional time. Of course, it takes a lot of time to "top and tail" 60 cuts, so it is a Zen task for sure.
You can also delete the default 2 seconds of silence between each cut on the burner options and save another 120 seconds (for 60 cuts).

Thumbstruck has granted permission for me to use his original composition (which you will find on the finished project) on our weekly "Hawai`i Radio Connection" show; how would others feel about this? If you submitted an ORIGINAL piece and would be okay with radio airplay, let me know. This would be on a non-commercial, community radio station only. |

Those are good ideas, Lawrence. Especially since we're at 70+ songs. It'll be a jigsaw puzzle to squeeze them all onto three CDs. Me and my big mouth (telling everyone to hop on board)! Jesse |

If worse comes to worse you may recall that at the beginning we discussed whether to send in one or two cuts per person, with the assumption that if things did not fit only one of the two submissions would be included. If things get really desperate you can ask those who submitted more that one cut per person to tell you which one is their most preferred.
OR - you could just re-sample every cut to be 10% quicker and save lots of space (and we would all appear to be more proficient)!!!

To all of us... who humorously put ourselves down... well, Louise Hay said, "your sub-concious has no sense of humor"...so be gentle with yourself, and I suppose that would then extend to others. Or as Keola says, "practice with Aloha".
Sincerely, The "aw shucks" king of self-deprecating humor Kapila K
P.S. personally speaking, "aw shucks" sucks! I wonder what 40 years of practice in the opposite direction would yield? ...well, I'll start with 40 minutes.
Lookin' forward to the tunes. Thanks to Jesse and all. |

With a little help from Lawrence, the tunes have been balanced for volume. I still have a little analysis to do. I've arranged them into three groups and there's almost five minutes to spare among the three 80 minute CDs, I may slip another song on there somehow. Jesse Tinsley |

aloha neeej, I am thinking that means that we are going to thoroughly enjoy your submittal but it might not be rated for all audiences. I'm looking forward to it!!! You may NOT put my submittal out for general consumption, not that you'd want to. The Browns, along with Keith have been AWOL. n |

So now I'm feeling really left out because I did not submit anything for I knew there would be plenty of submissions and the project would take on a life of it's own. That's because we TaroPatchers are a creative lot. But that means that I don't get to listen! Waaahhhh Maybe someone could rethink that rule... Julie |

Aloha Jesse:
Mahalo nui for the enormous amount of work you've done, and the awesome technics of it all.
Just a note: Na Leo Nahenahe recorded those two cuts not in a real cathedral, but at Trinity Episcopal Church in San Francisco; it's a lovely place with a high barrel vault ceiling, one which survived the 1906 earthquake and fire. And for identification, could you please note that those are the contributions for me, a humble tenor in Na leo Nahenahe. Mahalo. |

No problem, Ross. I don't know where I got that title and I've been looking at it thinking it should be something else. Cathe, I put the church's proper name in the insert. Update: I've burned all the first discs and started on the second. But compiling the song info for the insert will take a while. I got a deal on the CD cases and labels from www.american-digital.com with the triple jewel cases costing less than 50 cents and labels at about 7 cents each. If anyone hasn't sent me the song/bio/recording info yet, please do so now. I want to be able to continue the insert project without waiting for an email back from a contributor. Jesse Tinsley |
