Update: I have all the first CD burned. Had some of the second CD burned, too, then found I had to switch song order because I had a duplicate song on there. I have the song info for the first CD almost compiled (but not laid out). I still need info from a few folks, but I'll wait a little while and compile a list of MIA contributors and send out a mass email. I've already asked folks for more info only to find it under my nose, scribbled on a posti-it or stuck in the bottom of a mailing envelope. When I got the song switch completed, I found I had three minutes of empty time left on the third CD so I offered it to Texas Jim (Garson) and he will be the last contributor. Jesse Tinsley |

Whew, almost finished with the song info for the CD booklet. It won't be the elegant affair Sarah put together last year, but it will have all the info in it. Question: Does anyone know who wrote "Sweet Someone"? It's a popular standard in Hawai'i, but I'm not sure if it has island roots. When I google I find a bunch of songs with similar titles and it's confusing to decipher. Jesse Tinsley |

Jesse,
This is the info listed at http://www.squareone.org/Hapa/
------
SWEET SOMEONE
© 1937 Lyrics: Mack Gordon; Music: Harry Revel
Written for the 20th Century Fox film Love and Hisses. Not strictly a song that has anything to do with Hawaii, it was popularized in islands in the 1950s by Eddie and Betty Cole and in the 1960s by Don Ho. Sheet Music:

UPDATE! I got an email from a contributor and realized that others might be interested in the progress of the CD project. The final product will be a triple CD set with a booklet insert, but no back tray insert (the CD case doesn't have a space for it). I have burned all the first and second discs. I have finally compiled the booklet pages, probably the biggest part of the job, which need to go to Kinkos for copying (they'll be b&w). I've printed off about half of the paper CD labels and will try to finish them this weekend. I need to print the insert cover page, which will be color. Timewise, I hope everyone has it for Christmas. Just a lot of elbow grease to go. I'm sure everyone will enjoy it, even some of the shaky recordings. Jesse Tinsley |

Mahalos, Mark. It's still a labor of love. I dropped the pages of the 36-page booklet to be copied and cut at Kinkos. The new improved Kinkos isn't a 24-hour operation anymore, so it'll take a couple days for them to do it. I realized today that the labels for the second CD were missing a song, so I threw those out and started printing again. Many have offered encouragement and I appreciate it. Jesse Tinsley |

One more update on the 2005 Taropatch CD set: I'm having a heck of a time fitting the 36-page insert booklet into a CD jewel case, but they're currently being clamped to squish them flatter and hopefully they'll fit eventually. Shouldn't I have thought about that? I hope to mail the CD sets out Monday or Tuesday. Mele Kalikimaka e Hau'oli Makahiki Hou! Jesse Tinsley |

Jesse,
You're the best! Thanks for all your hard work. Can't thank you enough. From my very small glipse into some of the submissions (2 songs not including mine), we're all in for a treat. Lots of fun! |

My wonderful wife has jumped in to help package the CDs because she "wants me back" from this project. That assures that you'll have these before Christmas. Jesse |

Jesse, you have earned your way into the TaroPatch Pantheon of Heroes, along with Craig and the rest.
After this, take a very long rest, and give your wife our apologies.

Thinner paper can be obtained but not without loss of time and more money.
But as far as I am concerned...
Hey... I would be happy if you just rubber-band the insert to the case and ship-it!
