As thumbstruck said, we got 'em done! I squeaked my voice through "Ipo Lei Momi," Lori made "O Kamawaelualani" sound good, Kory let us join him for "`Ulupalakua," and he dazzled us with a short, original composition, "No Boddah Me." Mahalo to Jesse for overseeing this, and the encouragement; to Kory for always being joyful and fun; and to my co-worker Dan (who won't see this anyway) for the studio.
I'll be sending you the CD by week's end, Jesse. |

Aloha Jesse,
Don’t know if you remember me, but we traded e-mails awhile back regarding the 2004 Kahumoku workshop CD. If it’s OK, I would like to submit two songs, probably one nahenahe and the other more upbeat. I’ve never recorded myself until two nights ago. I just got one of those tiny iRiver MP3 players (thanks to Rossaurus, Cpatch, and all the other members who provided info on that thread), put it on a chair about 2-3 ft. away from my guitar, turned it on (internal mic), and started playing. Never thought something so small could make me so nervous and self conscious!
I know the deadline is coming up fast, and if I don’t get around to re-recording, I may end up sending you my first cuts. When we get recorded playing our songs in the kanikapilas at Uncle George’s Maui workshop, we don’t get a second cut, so what the heck—I won’t sweat it. Hope you guys find my mistakes “charming.” Anyhow, I’m not a techie and don’t have any editing software nor expertise, so I’m hoping I can just send you the raw recording in MP3 format.
Mahalo for spearheading this big project.
A hui ho,
Doug

Send what you have, Doug! I can probably figure out how to add a little reverb/EQ to the track. I can't fix mistakes, but I can liven them up a little. You can rest assured that yours won't be the only track with some tiny mistakes in them. Yes, it is part of the charm of this project. Jesse |

Aloha Jesse, My couple of songs are done; just need to shrink them to a reasonable file size to send via email. I should get to a DSL connection Friday or Saturday and they'll be on their way! I'm assuming you have wiki-wiki connection?
I'll be contributing:
Portuguese Medley
and either;
Aloha Chant by Pilahi Paki or Paka Ua by Ozzie
thanks so much for your efforts, Ross |

Aloha Jesse...I recorded Pua Kai playing and singing "Ka Manu" and slkho playing "Fandango" and "Molehu/Hula Medley" last night. If all goes well I'll have them to you late Sunday. |
Craig My goal is to be able to play as well as people think I can. |

Aloha Jesse:
Do you need a song list now or as we record and submit them? Us Eugene folks are cutting it right at the wire!

Maggie and other last-minute recorders... No worries about sending song lists or anything like that. If we have a few doubles in the collection, it won't matter. There will be a lot of music to listen to and no one will care. If you cut it too close, email near the deadline and let me know when it will be in the mail. Also, if you can't work out the studio time, I might be able to bring my laptop and stuff we can record at someone's house while I'm there Saturday night. I got your CD, 'Ilio Nui! Jesse |

Mahalo Jesse for being so flexible and helpful! I will let you know about the studio time, etc. Are they going to let you out of the cage on Sat. night? Please email me to let me know what your schedule looks like (if you know it yet).
You are da' best!

Adding another post to an already freakishly long thread...
If you don't contribute this year, you'll be missing out on a fantastic collection of music! I've been listening to the first 20 or so contributions for the upcoming CD and they are all so nahenahe. There are a handful of originals and many classics played so beautifully that you'll kick yourself for not participating. For contributors who have emailed their songs, don't forget the biographical and song information for the insert. You can email that to me (easier than me retyping a printed letter) in the next few weeks. Don't forget your MAILING ADDRESS and the $5 production fee. I may be emailing contributors with questions about stuff they already sent (info/addresses/bios) so I apologize in advance for the hassle. My computer desk is covered with CDs, post it notes and mailing envelopes and I may lose something inadvertently. Also, I'm hoping that I can put the real name of each contributor next to their song name, as well as their TP.net handle in the insert. I'm a newspaper reporter and I like things on the record:) For people looking at the calendar and thinking of giving up because we're only a week away from the deadline, just let me know you'll be late and we can play with the deadline a little bit. Mahalo everyone who has sent more than the requested $5 to help with extra costs. It really helps. Jesse Tinsley |

Jesse, as I finish the 2nd cut Thursday, is your e-mail link (through taropatch) the path and address for sending MP3 files? Or? Getting some tech help here...but wanna make sure I have the right Path info. My check's in the mail! Just hope I get everything there correctly--and by Friday!
