Yesterday I got Ozzies book in the mail. Anxiously I started working on the first song. within 15 minutes I had the general idea going, and within an hour I performed it for my girlfriend who was very enthousiastic.

So a great bid thumbs up to Ozzie and the fantastic book he has written!

I've always been crazy but that's kept me from going insane (W.J.)

Sellars,

A suggestion. Once you get into Ozzie's book, try to get his recorded CDs if you don't already have them. A lot of the stuff that Ozzie presents in his book can be heard in his music. His first CD and the most recent release "Paka Ua" have lots of useful licks that he introduces in the instruction book, in addition to being just good music. FYI, Ozzie regularly answers his email if you have questions about the book. Admin knows Ozzie's email address.

Good luck

Welcome aboard, Sellars!

I was struggling with "other sources" until several Taropatchers (not sure exactly who, but I'm sure Fran Guidry was in there) told me about Ozzies book.

That was about 11 months ago; I'm through 6 songs in Ozzies book and am working on a few others outside his book, with pretty satisfying results. I've even done a few mini-performances.

I sure wish Ozzie would come out with that second instructional book. He's a great person and a great instructor.

Oh, and one more thing---have fun with Awi'wi: and don't get too frustrated with it, just one measure at a time!
