Aloha, Taropatch Ohana's
Sorry for not keeping up and informing everyone about the progress on 'cop on top". If you look at the artical on september 2nd of the maui news you'll see kaena and another officer on the roof top. I'm glad someone else went on the roof with her. ( you know fathers.)
When i did the first report about kaena the other day, I did'nt mention about my grandaughters party over the weekend, because it didn't pertain to this thread on cop on top. But i need to explain for not giving a follow up until now....kawik's, mahalo for putting the artical and also island boo.( debbie.)
After kaena went on the roof, ( thursday.) we were getting our grandaughters 1st birthday party together, that meant planning the menu running around picking up the different foods, also getting the imu ready for the pig is like a full time job. You have to gather some banana leaves get the stump of the banana tree, cut two truck load of kiawi wood for the fire, make sure you have enough rocks for the imu, and then find flowers to decorate the hall, ( mahalo to duke from taropatch,who brought the flowers from hana.) In between all of that we were trying to keep up with kaena. Someone wrote, did dad help? well friday night we got some of the waihee guys together and we played in front of safeways parking lot that night. We started at 9:30pm and by the time we ended at 12:30 we collected about $500. ( people passing on there cars and also those that went shopping took the time to stop and give whatever they could.)
After the gig that night i went up to my friends house to lite the fire for the imu. ( 2am.) we satyed up all night to watch the fire so it did'nt get out of control and 6:00 that morning we put the pig in the imu. Came home finish the cooking went to the hall set up everything went to see kaena, came back to the hall, and next thing we knew the party started. ( 6pm.) and guess who was the MC?......kaena.
I'm glad kawik's put that artical because we did'nt know what happen until kaena came in at 7pm and she took over as MC and between the different entertainers she told everyone what the toatl count was after she came down from the roof at 6pm. So the pots and pans are all done, cop on top went well and im here doing a follow up. ( and can now relax.)
Mahalo again to everyone for your support, someone asked will kaena do it again next year? I asked her that same question this morning, with a big smile she looked at me and said...I'll be more prepared next year. She wanted to thank everyone from taropatch for there love and concern for the maui special olympic you folks made it a little special this year.
