Aloha all -
I will be in Seattle the weekend of August 27 & 28th for the contiuation in my series of slack key guitar, `ukulele and Hawaiian-style dulcimer workshops at Dusty Strings.
http://www.dustystrings.com/shop/workshops.shtml
What will I be teaching?
Slack key guitar - two workshops, intro and not-so-intro, aimed at getting you up to speed with an emphasis on playing from the heart and by the seat of your pants. "Take one..."
Post a reply & let me know if you have anything specific you want to work on, otherwise I'll surprise you.
`Ukulele: Playing solo finger-style -- in other words, playing melody on the `ukulele. You should know basic chords.
Dulcimer - Hawaiian slack key arranged for the dulcimer. It's really, really pretty.
See you soon!
cheers,
Mark

E Mark -
I'm planning to be there on the 27th. What I hope to learn is some stuff to play behind other people in kanikapila. I only can play the pieces I know as I learned them. So I'm stuck when it comes to playing with others. I hope you can help with this.

Mark's delightfuol CD "The Water is Wide," offers many examples of the beautiful combination of slack key guitar and dulcimer. I highly recommend it.

Thanks to everyone who attended the workshops -- I had a ball. Great to see some old friends and new faces. You guys are playing great!
Big time mahalos to Puna & Keonaona, & to Kory & Jack for the ripping jam session.
Let's do it again sometime!

'Ae! Their fingers were moving so fast that I got dizzy watching them! I had to sit down and drink beer until I regained my equilibrium. |
