Oh Auntie!
That is very sad!! I hope it turns up - hard to fence something like that.
I don't think there is anything any of us here in the taropatch can do to help, except offer consolation.

Makana's got history on his side with this one -- both Cyril Pahinui and Kahauanu Lake have been victims of instrument-theft, but the buzz throughout the media and online, got their precious guitar and uke returned to them within a matter of days. Hopefully, the same will happen to Makana.

There's an article in today's Honolulu Advertiser, with a photo of the guitar:

I read the article earlier this morning, and this is what I thought - the mana that is with that guitar must be so powerful. Even if said thief lives a life of no concern for others, he or she must be affected by the magnitude of those objects, even if they are electronic (the mac, the ipod). Assuming they would want to sell it for money, the real value is in the contents, not the objects. No way out brah, give em back. So shame you steal Makana's guitar.

And his laptop...that really makes me angry. I was working on a song about fences/walls and how terrible they look with no real justification for having them and here comes the main reason why people get them . Good luck on the recovery Makana, we'll keep a look out.

Stuff's happen. As mentioned, Uncle Cyril had his stolen once. The guy who grabbed it actually tried to sell it back to him, not knowing who Cyril was - it's a great story.
