Has anyone tried medium strings on a Baby Taylor? I know Taylor recommends light strings but I wonder if medium strings would improve the sound.

Bing,

I've used Elixir Nanoweb Mediums on mine for years. Works just fine. I think it's a much richer sound.

Hey Bing! Don't know about mediums or Baby Taylors, but I do know that using Elixir Poly lights (vs. the Nanos) helped the sound on my Larrivee Parlor by bringing down the high end a little.

What improvements are you trying to make?

Craig
My goal is to be able to play as well as people think I can.

I've been using mediums on my circa-1996 Baby for most of its life. I don't know whether it's significant that it's one of the older-design units with the semicircular brace and originally recommended to be tuned up to F, but I've had no problems whether in standard concert tuning or slacked down to G.

aloha ahi ahi:

Been using Elixer Nanoweb mediums on my Baby Taylor, and it likes it, heh heh.. ... ...just like the big dog.
Lighter strings which I used at first didn't have a depth of sound, of course the bass is now much better and seems to keep the sustain up a bit longer.
best of luck

Like catheglass and Russell, I use mediums (Elixer polys) on my Baby taylor M. I keep it tuned to taropatch. It's also one of the older models with the snowplow brace.
