So here's a 2 week warning .....

The Dec. South Bay Open Mic will be Wed. Dec 7 at Espresso Garden on Bascom Ave. in San Jose. Musician sign up from about 6:30, when the board comes out. Music kicks off at 7:15. First 9 sign ups get 15 minutes each.

Please remember that we will be hosting a collection for Toys For Tots ... (donation optional) ... they want NEW toys in original wrappers. Please do not gift wrap them.

Hope to see all the regulars we've come to love, and, as always, new faces are most welcome.

NOTE:
I just spoke with Sun Jose Hawaii folks - they will offer gift certificates to people who bring a toy worth at least $15.00. Use my link for details.

BTW - the new store is in Eastridge, near Sear, right across and downstairs from the food court. It is open.

Hi Raymond,

Since we do not have a "Toys for Tots" program in our neck of the woods, can you tell me what age group this program is geared for?
Thanks,

Julie

Hey folks, other day I just found out that Espresso Garden is up for sale. That means we will have the venue till April, then who knows.

So...if you're saving up .. don't wait... it's a great venue to start performing in public and to try out some new stuff. Even when you crash and burn, speaking from experience, it ain't all that bad ... you learn you can survive that, which actually makes it easier to get up the next time.

I will probably check Hukilau, maybe elsewhere, to see if we can keep this alive longer, but no guarantee.

That's still 5 great opportunities! Thanks to you Raymond, I'm learning a lot from these open mics. Anything I can do to help, just let me know!

See you on Dec. 7!

Me Ke Aloha,
Steve

Does anyone have a link to the listing? I may have an interested investor.

Thanks for the info Raymond.. Hopefully another venue becomes available. I've only attended twice, but have thoroughly enjoyed the kanikapila. I will get up there once or twice before April...

Cost is $175,000 for the business. Lease is a separate negotiation with the landlord.

Oh oh, I have lost my voice. So no play for us, but I'll try to be there to add ears for the other performers.

Larry can still play bass can he not?

Reminds me of a song...

Clyde plays electric bass
Plays it with finesse and grace
Sits on the porch without no shoes
Just pickin' the bass and singin' the blues.

(J.J. Cale)

Of course, Larry can wear shoes if he wants!

OK folks,

The show goes on tonight!

We (Na La'au Ki'eki'e) have prepared some special seasonal sounds
and I am sure that others have as well...

I've been working on some seasoned material, too.
Some parsley, sage, rosemary ... something's missing, but I can't quite figure out what. Hopefully I'll have it by showtime.
