Eh Wasssssup all!
Meet my twin Brother "Pila" from Singapore! Yeah! He looks exactly like me....Only, he wears a ponytail draped on his right shoulder. He looks like he's intoxicated doesn't he....I'll be there at the next "Kanikajammapila" in Waihe'e.
BTW! I was hunting with my compound-bow in my backyard the day da 'pi'tcha was taken. Hope 'Pila played some decent kiho'alu! Take care all! A Hui Hou!

Aloha All, Eh, Bill - you nevah told me you had one bro Pila - ha! You new look looks good. Hope to see you sometime soon. We've been busy also with guests over the holidays!
Just wanted to let you all know that I have removed the photos that I had on this forum from my server because I needed the space for some other things. The photos should all still on Ed Kalama's pbase page, though, if you want to see them. Maybe I can shrink the sizes and repost them soon.
Hope all is well with everyone. Aloha, >^..^<
P.S. Tried to tie in the photos to Ed's pbase page, but it didn't work |

Aloha gang:
Just wanted to say mahalo to all who shared their music at Waihe`e this past Saturday...Bill, Kevin, Dr. Eli, and Missy. Because I was in a marathon taiko session the nite before (that's my other passion) I wasn't able to share a whole lot on my part. My hands, especially my fingers on my picking hand were swollen and stiff. I won't make the same mistake next time...I'll be ready.
On Sunday, I had a chance meeting with Steve Sano in Wailuku. Most of you probably know him from his collaborative Christmas CD with Ozzie Kotani released last year, and his solo effort too. He's also the faculty advisor to the Stanford University taiko group which is attending a taiko-making workshop on Maui during spring break. We had a great discussion about kiho`alu, guitars, and he had some very intersting insights on the state of slack key on the mainland, especially on the west coast.
play on, kamalu |

I heard that island get some "Real McCoy's" that play the old style slack key. I bringing my guitar and hopefully get to meet these old time slack key players, sit in with them, and invite them to Waihee,if there ever on Maui.
While Kaena is working, I might as well be on a mission. haa, haa.

Hi Kevin,
I'm sure you would know better than me, but I heard there is a weekly jam on Molokai. I don't recall for sure, but it's on Saturdays, I think. |

Aloha Andy
Mahalo for the info. If you not from Molokai the only thing you know is that, They got the best bread. haa haa.
My daughter is a Police Officer there. She has a 3 bedroom house so I going spend time with her. ( das my punahele.)
While shes working I'll check around for that jam session. I have a lot of musician friends but none of them play slack key.
So gotta go on a mission and find them(slackers) Thanks again Andy, for the info.
Hope we can hook up on Maui. Are you going to be here in June?

Translation:
"When you come to Maui in June, Kevin is going to be one of George's slack-key guitar teacher's. Introduce yourself if you should see him, as he will likely be very glad to meet you in such a manner. He should be able to give you more detailed directions to Waihe`e Valley. And also ask him about Takamiya Market in Happy Valley, which is on the way to Waihe`e. If you're somebody who like good things to eat, it's the place for you. They have fresh poke (all kinds). Be sure to ask if they have opihi, as well. They have it on occasion, but they sell out quickly. Or, should you be interested, we can go out and try to pick some fresh ones (depending, of course, on whether or not the conditions are calm and safe, and also on whether or not someone else has been out picking the previous day). I'll see you in Waihe`e Vally in June, my friend. Until next time....."
See, not so haaad, pidgin, eh!? :-)
