I just learned that one of the most supportive venues for Hawaiian music and culture is in danger of closing. It's called Hale Noa, and run by a wonderful guy named Keoni Verity. It's a kava bar, with live music every night, featuring groups/people like Ernie Cruz, Jr., Barry Flanagan, Inner Session, Salivacious, the Girlas and impromptu appearances by John Cruz, Fiji, and many others. It is a beacon on Hawaiian music and culture. For those of you in Hawaii, please consider attending the benefit concert on Sunday, January 15, featuring Hapa and Imua Garza at the Bishop Museum. You can also make a direct donation. I know we're generally not supposed to make pitches on TP, but this place is genuinely committed to Hawaiian music and culture. Check out supporthalenoa.com
