aloha e kaua,

a good friend of mine, jack knight and his wife are heading to kailua-kona. they arrive march 4 and will be on the big island for an indeterminate time.

i was hoping to help him find some friends to play some music with. jack is a member of our band (he's leaving gerry and me to our own devices ), and plays bass, ukulele and lap steel. he likes the traditional songs as well as hapa haole and some of the jazzier songs.

if anyone can send me contact information, then i'll forward to jack. he leaves in five days.

mahalo nui loa,

Aloha Keith. Try contacting Konabob if he doesn't post something here by the time you read this. I'm sure he would have some suggestions. Great to see you and Suze here.

Aloha Keith!

Definitely contact Konabob! He was very helpful when my friends were on the Big Island recently. Also, if they make it up to Honoka'a, there are some folks that jam at the Saturday Market there on a regular basis. My friends had a blast playing with them and made it up there many times to their kanikapilas. I'm sure there are other things happening around the island that come by word of mouth. Just tell Jack to keep the uke (or whatever instrument) with him and the universe will take care of the rest. I guarantee it! Also, if he wants to hear some good music while up there, they can stop in Hawi and see John and Hope Keawe play at the Bamboo Restaurant or take in a show with members of the Lim Family.

There were some email problems a couple of weeks ago. You might send another message.

Yes, I forgot about that. I bet your email fell victim to my email server problems.

Hi Keith,
Tell Jack and his wife to come to Keauhou Shopping center Fridays at 10:30a.m. to play along with Uncle Willie and his ukulele group. Some people bring guitars (I do) and there is always hula. We will be in the middle courtyard area. KonaBob plays bass and steel guitar. It's a lot of fun. Bob very kindly teaches Steel Guitar after the ukulele group.

Aloha,
Jeri

Hi Keith,
Jack has been coming to Keauhou for 2 weeks now. Last night I went over to his house and Jane got her first Kona Walkingstick Bass lesson. You should have seen her light up when she suddenly "got it". I played steel and Jack played the uke nonstop for 2 and a half hours. He has an amazing collection of songs. Next time you are on the island, I hope you and Susan will join us, and maybe I will ask Dennis and Nancy to come too. That would be a grand gathering!
Thanks for pointing Jack my way.
Aloha,
-Konabob
