Aloha mai ka kou!

My name is a35asako, I have learned hula for 5years in Tokyo.
I love music not only Hawaiian also pops, clasic, jazz, and more.

Mahalo Piko from hawaiiancomcertguide.com and ORANGE!
I am a listener of hawaiian concert guide Podcast, Piko often
reads my email in his great program!
and ORANGE is a one of my friends, she told me about Taropatch.net.

Well, my favorite artists are Daniel Ho, Herb Orta Jr. and MAKENA.
Daniel Ho and Herb Orta Jr. are now in Japan,
I really enjoyed thier excellent performance!!
They are so friendly!
I knew about MAKENA at hawaiianconcertguide.com!
I hope I would like to go Long Beach to see MAKENA's performance.

And I will go to Hawaii 18th April!

Mahalo nui loa!

Hi Asako-san,

Welcome to Taropatch.net. I have always wanted to visit Tokyo but have not yet. Hopefully someday!

I listen to Piko's podcast too. He often plays my Taropatch.net promo at the beginning of his show. Mahalo Piko!

Ohio Asako-san,
I used to listen to Piko but I don't have over an hour to burn twice a week. He does have some good interviews with up and coming performers. He sure puts a lot of effort into the podcasts. If you play slack key and are in the Los Angeles/San Diego area send a post and let us know.

Mahalo for your hauoli reply!
Please come to Tokyo with Piko someday!
I always listen your promotion at the beginning of
hawaiianconcertguide.com.
So ORANGE told me about this community,
I remember your promotion soon!

Aloha Mika ele!
Oh! You are a listener of Piko!
I think his show is very nice, too.
Podcast is so popular in Japan, a lot of Japanese people will enjoy his show soon.
I really hope I could visit around Los Angeles!

Aloha and e como mai, Asako!
I only know a teeny bit of Japanese and when I saw Mike write Ohio, I thought about that. O Hi O gozai mashta ----- I guess that would be Japlish... Like Taglish for the Filipo/English.....
I live only 10 mins south of LAX, the international airport in Los Angeles, so for certain get ahold of me. I'm almost always good for a place to stay - no fancy house, but an old beach hut with lots of rooms. Good place to hang and jam - that means to stay and make music.
If you are so fond of Herb and Daniel, I hope you'll hear and meet Keoki Kahumoku some day soon. Or you may know him through several CDs he recorded with Herb. My favorites move around a lot but he is my favorite at this time. The three of them perform together quite often.
Aloha nui,

Aloha Pua Kai!

Mahalo for your hauoli reply!
I don't know about Japlish, I guess Ohio would be Ohayou Gozaimasu.
It means Good Morining in Japanese. I am not sure but I guess so that.
I had been at Long Beach for 1 month when I was a high-school student.
You live very nice place to enjoy music.
I live in Tokyo and love this city but I feel Tokyo is too narrow to enjoy music
and hula sometimes.
I know Keoki Kahumoku, he got 3rd votes in Hawaii music awards
at contemporary hawaiian category with Herb Ohta Jr.,
http://www.hawaiimusicawards.com/winners.php
and Daniel Ho sometimes talk about him in his interview,
but I don't listen his music yet.
I would like to listen his music.
Thank you for your great information!

Mahalo Asako -
The other phrase I think I learned was something like: "Irashy mashta" Hopefully that means welcome to my home. When in my mid-twenties (I can remember that??), I had friends in a family living here. The 3 yr old little girl was amazing in that to me she spoke perfect English, as she did to her mom and dad. Then to her grandmother, she spoke "excellent" (??) pidgin. And to her great grandmother, she spoke Japanese. I learned a couple phrases from my secretary at work whose grandparents came from Japan. we refer to her as "Sansei". I wanted to be able to welcome them all to my home. There was only one little problem. Great grandmother thought since I welcomed her in Japanese, I could also actually speak and understand it.... ooops. But I think she might have felt the welcome, and at least the feel of ohana in our home. In my 20s I had little trouble learning phrases in many languages and it was fun. As you might know, most of us California natives learn Spanish in school. Anyway, now that I am old - well, my brain is old - I am struggling mightily with learning the Hawai`ian to sing the songs... I'm going to have to live to be 100 to be able to learn what I'm hoping to learn. But it's the journey - I'm assured it's the journey, and I'm sure that's right.
See you and Orange up here when you find a cheap flight - -

Asako-san, genki desu ka? It is good to have nihonjin like you and Orange in the Taropatch. I went to high school in Long Beach many years ago. I live in Huntington Beach, just next door to Long Beach. Perhaps when you come over you can stay with Pua Kai and we can all meet each other. I have spent a long time in Japan at various times doing research on both the automobile industry and on Japanese culture. I really miss it as I have not been back since 2004.
