You probably have enough info by now but let me add one thing to check as you try out guitars. I have a Takamine 132s classical that I use for F wahine songs and have to say that it has significant intonation problems. As play up the neck (9-12 frets) things get pretty wonky. Thinner strings help and the action is already low but it just does not sound good. It is in your price range however ($600 street). I also have a very good classical and it does not have the same problem with intonation at the higher frets. One other thing, IMHO cedar tops on classical guitars gives more of a slack key sound than spruce. I started looking for a classical cutaway and found mostly "crossover" guitars with narrower necks than standard classical 2" so passed on those and am having one built.
