Recently, I've received lots of feedback regarding the slow download speeds of the forum. Tried troubleshooting over the past week, but I think it's time upgrade to a better server. Appreciate everyone's feedback.
In case you haven't seen it, some have been posting at Delays and error messages
This won't happen immediately, but I'm looking to make a move soon. I'll be testing for a while but when it's ready to go - the forum will be down for 24-72 hours. Thanks for your patience.

Andy,
How do you pay for this? Really! I am sure you get some funds from the linked purchases of books etc, but is it enough? Other forums where I hang out, we use anual fund drives. The admin is free to do with these as he/she sees fit. My guess is we would find that this bunch of folks would be quite generous. Surely enough to buy a snazzy new server...

Hi Mike,
To date, the costs have not been all that much so the little collected from affiliate links has been sufficient. I have not made any decisions yet but the move I am contemplating will increase my costs more than twice what they are now.
Still no urgent need for an annual drive, though. We'll see how things go. |

Yes, I find that it is better so that I do not have to maintain the server or worry about downtime. I let the pros take care of the hardware and keeping everything up and running.

Hi all,
I estimate that Taropatch.net will move to a new server in the next 1 to 2 weeks. I need some time to test everything on the new server before going "live". Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. Appreciate your patience. |
