Hey gang, I'm looking for the music or chord progressions for Carlos Andrade's "Hokule`a Hula". Not slack key per se, but I'd like to learn it. Song he wrote as crew on Hokule`a journey in 1986 (from what I've read). I guess I could ask him if I had a contact (hint Auntie Maria ?). Thanks.

Terry,
I don't think Andrade would respond (IMNSHO), even if you had a contact. Try to contact Pat Cockett, if he hasn't left for Brazil yet. Pat is very accessible.
Andrade's story of the song is at: http://www.pvs-hawaii.com/newsletters/nl_aotearoa.htm
According to George Winston, it is played in: "C-G-E-G-A-E Called C Mauna Loa Tuning. Sometimes called Gabby's C Tuning. Also called Ki Melia Tuning on the island of Ni'ihau."

Terry,
It's one of the songs I do in my set. I'll email you a copy with the chords. Reid is correct about the tuning, but I do it Drop C

great guys, thanks. I'll either do Drop C or transpose to G and capo to A to sing. |

Chunky, CGEGAE was the C6th tuning that Dennis Chun used last night to play Hi'ilawe. I'm sure Dennis would know how to play it.
