I'm signed up for the Ozzie Kotani workshop at Gryphon Instruments on 11/16. I know I'm not the only TaroPatch Forum member who's going. It occurred to be that it might be fun to get together before the workshop and socialize a bit.

I happen to live in Palo Alto just a few minutes from Gryphon. One possibility is that people can hang out at my house, have some snacks, chat and play some slack key for an hour or two and then head over to Gryphon.

Email me at gaa @ rahul.net if you think you might be interested. I'll see what the level of interest is and what people want to do. I know it's always a little awkward to get together with a bunch of "strangers" even if we do share an interest in slack key. I promise it'll be low key.

Thanks for the invite, Gary. I'm working with my pal, luthier Kathy Wingert, to see how we can arrange her schedule to get to Palo Alto in time for your get together.

Hope it all comes together,
Fran

Aloha Gary,

I am signed up for Ozzie's lesson as well.

The concert too.

Live in Palo Alto too, about 2 miles from Gryphon.

Would love to come, what time were you thinking of?

Lawrence (and anyone else who may be interested),

The plan is to meet at my house from 12 noon until about 1:30. I live less than 5 minutes from Gryphon so there's no problem getting there in time for the 2pm workshop.

So far three people have said they're coming to the get together and three others might show up depending on their schedules. If you're interested in attending send me an email. There's plenty of room and the more the merrier.

Gary, mahalo so very much for hosting this get together. Having folks assemble for kanikapila before the workshop turned out to be a first rate idea. I really appreciated your hospitality, and Kathy asked me to pass along her thanks as well.

It was my pleasure. It was a lot of fun meeting such a nice group of people. My only regret was that it ended too soon! I'll definitely do it again at some future time.

Mahalo Nui Gary,

For the nice "slack time".

I just wisht it went on longer!

Might be nice to have had it after the workshop so
that everyone could make a stab at doing some of the
workshop tunes together. Of couse, in that case it
would have cut into dinner time.

But a great time was had nonetheless, and thanks too
for the sandwiches.

It was nice to meet you wife and son and your precocious
daughter (who knows how to make a mummy no less!)
