Just released! Kumu Bobo Miles "Ukulele Class" will be performing at the event! For those of you who don't know about them, Bobo put togethor a class of about 15 plus students and taught them a thing or two! Part of the group performed at the Aloha Festival last month! Unfortunately Bobo won't be at the event, (He is returning from Japan soon but to Culver City near Los Angeles).
And you never know what else to expect... Hope to see you all there and PLEASE introduce yourselves if you can! a hui hou, Timmy |

Hey Timmy, we are so looking forward to tomorrow! Auntie Nancy is here staying with us and we'll be there early to help decorate. (She already has her ticket.) Then I also have another friend coming as my guest, so keep an extra ticket available for her, and we plan on having a great time. The brunch buffet will be a separate cost from the ticket price? I'm sure there will be a delightful selection, as you're cooking is just da best!!!!
Plenny aloha, Julie |

Hey, who would have ever expected a Hawaiian show to start early??? I missed Brother Dave and Huna Wai but caught the rest. Brother Timmy, thanks so much for doing all the work to bring such an amazing, powerful, moving show to us. And your cooking was a delightful treat, thanks for that too.
Cool venue, sound maybe a bit louder than needed for the style, warm and gracious audience, this was another special event. The local dancers, oh my!!! Steven's band is getting tighter and looser at the same time, as they spend more time with the material from the CD. Keali`i Blaisdell is a guy to watch for. His original material is some strong stuff, and his singing is terrific.
What can one say about Darlene Ahuna? She's a true diva. She really responded to the energy in the room, and also seemed to enjoy the support provided by Huna Wai. She brought Steven and Keali`i back for a "Hi`ilawe" closer - what a moment!
The stage was beautiful, thanks to Julie (and Larry, I'm sure). I got to meet Auntie Nancy (Pua Kai) for the first time, so sweet. And Darlene gave a thanks from the stage to our host, Andy Wang, for all he does to support and encourage Hawaiian music and culture.
Finally, Darlene mentioned that she's regularly at the Mauna Kea hotel on the Kohala coast of the Big Island, so if you're out that way ...

Would that be to the host (Timmy) and me... since I was not the host? Is it possible? Man, what a head trip. Auntie Darlene knows of Taropatch.net? |

Sorry for the confusion, I was referring your hostship here at TP. She knows about Taropatch and knows you by name. Apparently someone has been telling her about the cool stuff you've facilitated.
And you, Andy, and Taropatch.net got a big round of applause when she mentioned you.

Fran - Maybe I was too tired to read. Thanks for passing that along. If there is such thing as Admin nirvana, I think I briefly attained that over this past weekend.
Kudos to all of the Taropatch.net `ohana who keep putting the word out and making this a really cool place on the internet. You guys are the best!
Welcome Keali`i. Love your CD! |

Aloha Kakou, Mahalo to Andy and Taropatch.net. Mahalo to all of the taropatchers that were in attendance at Sundays concert. For those of you who missed SLACKDOG... I can only say he is sounding so... ONO! His arrangments were awesome and his confidence was astounding! He was GREAT!
Mahalo to Aunty Nancy for driving all the way from SO CAL! Kiwini was dea chillin' and lovin' the mele! Fran and his wife (whom I met for the first time) were also present and it was wonderful to meet you! Julie Hendricks of course was there with her husband Larry, and decorated the stage with her wonderful Hawaiian Style Decor! Mahalo nui loa Julie! All and all I would say we had about: (10) plus taropatchers there from all over the bay area!!!
I just want to extend my Mahalo's to each and every one of you who put a hand in and made this happen. It was an INCREDIBLE day and the only way to fully understand it is if you were there... I talked to Steven Espaniola last night and here is what he had to say about it...
"Timmy, I have played plenty of great venue's... And had plenty of really great crowds who appreciated the music... But the Santa Cruz crowd was by far the best crowd I have EVER played for!" MAIKA'I!!
I was like... WHAT?! WOW we are HONORED! Keali'i Blaisdell and Huna Wai TORE it up! Keali'i has it all... First off the voice... then he brings the element of what is so difficult for many of us musicians... Writing your own ORIGINAL material. He does it with PURE MANA and full of ALOHA. His stuff is moving and emotional and will continue to blow folks away! Mahalo cuz and no foget' da "DEATH SPRAY!" LOMANTIUM OSHA! (inside joke)
Darlene was... Like Fran said... A true DIVA! She is the FULL package! Voice, Beauty and she can seriously JAM on her guitar! It was my first experience seeing Darlene in concert... It won't be my last! I heard a little MYNA birdie say something about a Santa Cruz show in February... (More details comin')...Mahalo Darlene you ROCK!
Huna Wai... WOW... Huna Wai. Many of you have seen them play at Aloha Grille... But you just haven't seen ANYTHING unless you saw them on SUNDAY! The have NEVER played with Keali'i before... Keali'i plays all original material. They practiced for an hour around the fire the nite before... and in the STAIRWELL behind the ATTIC the day of for another 1/2 hour... And when they went onstage... It sounded like they had been playing for years togethor! TELL EM' KEALI'I! I cannot say enough about the talent from that band! If you haven't seen them yet... SEE THEM!
Steven Espaniola... He was absolutely amazing once again! He continues to sound better and better if you can imagine that when he already sounds so good. Watch dis bruddah because he is GOING PLACES!!! GUARANZ! Mahalo to him and his incredible band too!
Well das' all I have to say about Sunday. We hope to see you and more of you next year at the 2nd Annual End of Summer Ho'olaule'a right here in Santa Cruz!
And lastly in closing Mahalo to Andy once more for having this place of sharing. Timmy
