I just wanted to share a little bio about me to all of you who supported me as well as Traditional Hawaiian Music.
Name: Keali`i Blaisdell Born: July 16, 1972
Family (Last Names): Akana, Aken, Ahuna, Blaisdell, Cummings, Dutro, Ho`omanawanui, Ho`opi`i, Joseph, Kaleo, Kahahawai, Kanahele, Ka`ohelauli`i, Keale, Keamo`ai, Kiheimakanui, Kawananakoa, Lindsey, Mahi, Meresberg, Palakiko, Topolinski, Willams (That's pretty much all I know)

Albums: Ka Ulu Mae'ole (Hula Records 1998) "1999 Na Hoku Hanohano Award Finalist" Keeping It Traditional (PHE 2006)
SMALL KINE BIO: I believe in "Perpetuation of Hawaiian Music thru ORIGINALITY"...I love to write about current events, places Ive been and people in my life. I believe that it's okay to sing the great and awesome oldies of Hawai'i, but, I have decided that for me...I would just strictly write all new and original songs for all of us to enjoy. I was taught by my uncle (actually my third cousin) Cyril Pahinui to play the Ki Ho`alu for many of years and finally I decided to share with it with you because uncle Cyril gave me his blessings and said that I was ready (which of course im still a bit nervous). As far as my `olelo, it was taught to me by my family from Ni`ihau. Alot of my songs are usually always checked by Uncle Dennis Kamakahi and by my cousin, Kumu Kaha`i Topolinski of Ka Pa Hula Hawai`i.
My Favorite Place to Perform: California
Musical Influences: Eddie Kamae, Don Kaulia, Gary Haleamau, Dennis Pavao, Gabby Pahinui, Cyril Pahinui, Dennis Kamakahi and of course my father, another awesome Ki Ho`alu player, Woody Aken.
That's about it for now, mahalo so much for all your support!!!

Come south, Young Man, come south!! As posted elsewhere last week, I really enjoyed your music. It's different - new ki ho`alu in the real old style. And as Keali`i makes his way to your area, I'm sure all taropatchers will enjoy his performances. Welcome to da 'Patch!!! n |

Aloha, Keali`i; glad to hear you making music again - your new album's a treat, and we've been playing tracks on the "Hawai`i Radio Connection" shows here in Seattle. Let us know if you ever come touring through this way - maybe come along with Uncle Cyril next time, ah? =Gregg= |

E Keali'i! Alex from Maine here! Pehea 'oe?
So how was your Christmas? Mine was great. My makua and I are going to seesome relatives this weekend and exchange some makana. I've always thought that going to Hawai`i for Christmas would be a little weird for us Mainers because we're so used to having a white Christmas, but then again I think it would be cool to see a Hawaiian Santa saying, "Ho ho ho! Mele Kalikimaka!" Maybe I will some time soon.
Anyways, I hope you're feeling better. I remember the last time Alana and I talked to you you were luhi and ma'i. Also, keep making great music and I hope to meet you some time soon too! Aloha to Alana for me if you ever talk to her again.
E malama pono, Na Alex |
He kehau ho'oma'ema'e ke aloha.
