Lecture: Saturday, February 3, 2007 - 9:00am The steel guitar noted, for its unique tonal quality and its sound, is intimately associated with the music of Hawai’i. Invented in the islands of Hawai’i, the steel guitar has evolved from its invention in 1889 through many forms and tunings. Musicians of blues, bluegrass and folk music have since adopted the instrument as a standard. Learn the history and the evolution of the instrument.
Private Sessions: Saturday, Feb. 3 and Sunday, Feb. 4 45 minute sessions per arranged times During each private session, Alan’s objective will be to nurture that “Hawaiian” sound each participant. Each session will be uniquely tailored to upon each individual’s playing experience and skill. Lessons may cover: left hand and right technique including straight bar, forward and reverse slants, picking, blocking/muting, vibrato, slurring appropriate to the melody and harmonics.
