I just ran into this video and thought others might want to see it. I didn't realize Led was that good. And Kona Bob is not exactly lacking in the chops department either! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aigeyO9TE1w Bob

They are both way swell! You know, I would never ever be able to play like either of them...there is no way I could tap my foot and play guitar at the same time. Too much coordination required.

Led is about the best there is, both technically, and expressively!
Glad you are finding out.
(and I can see Konabob is as happy as a clam... oops... I mean... as a humuhumunukunukuapa'a... to be backing up Led!)

Well, this week I'm a girl. Last week I was a miserable devil pulling everyone back into hell...What ya going to do :)
About Led...I must have been living under a rock or something. I would have found out anyway on April 27th in Chicago when I go to see him. btw, he will be only the third slack key player (second concert) that I have ever seen since starting slack key 1 1/2 yrs ago. And I was born in Hawaii!

Oh, I want to add this note. I will be buying a few CD's at Led's performance in Chicago. I would like to ask what CD's of his anyone here would reccomend. At Keola's concert in MN, I had no idea what to buy. I just grabbed. Bob |

I love Waltz of the Wind. It is not all normal Hawaiian slack key. He did it in Nashville with Alison Krause, Ricky Scaggs & others, but it is soooooo good.
But, they are all good. I also like any of the Hui `Ohana stuff, too. Its all good. No mattah. |

I tend to like some of the Hui Ohana stuff a lot:
Here are some of my Led Favorites: (Most of which you can get at Auntie Maria's site - mele.com)
Hui Ohana 1987 (reunion CD, simply the best Hui Ohana CD made)
Hawaiian Style Guitars (with Jerry Byrd - 1988 re-issue)) ** the first cut on this disc caused me to fall in love with slack key. I bought an extra disc and sent it out to a guy named Ozzie about 15 years ago and he tabbed it out for me. Took me a year to learn it and I still cannot play it as smooth as Led did/does **
Led Live Solo - Dancing Cat
Waltz of the Wind (cited above)
Black Sand
(some songs/tunes are repeated within the above set, but done differently, as Led is wont to do!)

Hey, Haole_Boy!
I'm making to trek up to Chicago for the concert, too. I'll keep an eye out for you - it's always fun to meet a taropatcher in person. I'll be the gal swooning and/or whooping it up in the front row (in the seating section - I couldn't get through on the phone and the computer drones didn't offer the tables as an option)
A hui hou!

Hey Islandboo -- do you ever partake of the Hula workshops there in Indiana. I think just about everyone (except Paul & I) who was at the Northeast Ohio hula workshop was there...people go from all over to the Indiana thing.
