Here's a list of some of the TV theme songs that I sometimes just randomly start singing.

1. Gilligan's Island
2. Green Acres
3. Brady Bunch
4. used to sing Rugrats all the time; now not as much
5. Spongebob Squarepants
6. used to sing Bob the Builder all the time; now not as much
7. used to sing Telitubbies all the time; now not as much
8. Arthur (and I say hey, what a wonderful kinda day, if we can learn to work and play, and get along with each other)

If I think of more I'll post them later.

He kehau ho'oma'ema'e ke aloha.

Tunes such as those are called "Earworms". The music to Spongebob cartoons is great!

"Born on a mountaintop in Tennessee".... we weren't, but now my sister is proud of her home that they built "on a Mountain top in Tennessee"... they went there for ORNL... and have built in Maryville (pronounced mervl, I'm told)

I live and speak acronyms. You are right, I should have known that. That is one beautiful part of the country down there. My youngest daughter wants to live in the Smoky Mountains - not a bad aspiration.

Did you get the pictures I sent you? I am not very computer literate, so I don't know if I screwed something up.

Thanks,
Wanda

Oh, Wanda, those songs on your list are going to be fighting for first place in the “can’t get that tune out of my head” contest all day now.

For me it somehow takes a visual or sound cue to get one of those theme songs started in my head (sorry, Alex, if these may be several decades before your time):

Just the sound of a steam engine: “There’s a little hotel called the Shady Rest at the Junction …”

And they don’t have to have words, either:

I see a valentine or a heart in just the right shape, I hear the first bars of the “I Love Lucy” theme.

And I admit it’s bizarre, but if I see someone trip I hear the little xylophone riff from the opener of the “Dick Van Dyke Show” that comes when the title character trips over his ottoman.

And I can’t hear keys jingle without humming the theme to “Captain Kangaroo.”

Weird brain wiring … what can I say?

OK - did you guys like Ginger or Mary Ann best? My prediction is that the majority will say Mary Ann, the cute, clean, innocent, wholesome girl.

The theme from "Bonanza" sticks in my mind......no words though! Remember the Ponderosa?

Sometimes have their little spats
Even fight like dogs and cats
But when they need each other that's
When they're Rough and Ready.

Handed down to Applegate
The chest is here, but wait
Where's the gold doubloons and pieces of eight?

Way out there on the Triple R

The horses are the best by far

They call him Roy, Roy
Quick on the draw

Quick on the draw
He's a rooty-toot tootin'
Six gun shootin'
He's the fastest drawer
You ever saw
Draw us an elephant, Roy!

Ok, I'm in...
Gotta go with "Andy Griffith Show",
Leave it to Beaver,
Hogan's Hero's ...
and the Munsters...Car 54, and The Jetsons...than there's the Flinstones...
oh, that's why my hard-drive is full...whew, I thought I might have some memory chips chipped.

OOoo, oooo, of course the original Star Trek...but it's harder to play in Taropatch.
But it helps if you can sing operatic soprano.

By the way, has anyone seen the really old Bonanzas, (not the new ones?) where the boys and dad sing words on their horses to the theme....
something like,
"I've got a right to fight for the land...Bonanzaaaa!
or was it, "I've got a right to fight for the right to party"?

and who can forget "December Bride"?
Bonzai
