Does anyone play or have an opinion on Martin omc-16? I am curious if it is a good choice for playing slack key. I am curious because of the 1 3/4 nut but it is a small guitar.

I've played them and I like them. I like the 1 3/4. I don't own one, but I would if I was looking. Look for one with the Aura electrics. I've seen very nice used ones for about $1300

Where did you find OMC's at those prices? In my first search I found some older models for around 2.2K but they were new I think...some were Lawrence Juber ver.
Thanks

FYI
A local shop in my area had a Lawrence Juber omc-18 (2002).It sounded and played very well! An amazing tone comes from a box that seems small (volume & depth) compared to a dreadnaught.

The Juber is quite different structurally from the 16 series. You can get pretty detailed specs at the Martin web site, where you'll find that the 16 series has a mortis and tenon neck and "hybrid X scalloped" bracing pattern. Note also that the bracing is 5/16" rather than 1/4". The mahogany Juber is much closer to an OM-18V, with dovetail neck joint, standard scalloped bracing, and 1/4" braces.

This is not to say that the 16 series is not a fine guitar, but auditioning a Juber OMC-18 will not tell you much about an OMC-16.

Buffalo Brothers in Carlsbad. I played a new one last week (about $2000). I've seen used ones there for $1300. Acoustic Guitar did a review recently (April 2006) of the 00C-16DBRE.
