Just got a release from Samson about the new Zoom H2 recorder. It's smaller & cheaper than the H4, with what looks like some very nice features of its own.

I don't think it's shipping yet. But if you are in the market, you might want to take a look. Check it out at:

I'll be reveiwing it later this spring.

Happy recording!

Darn! I just bought the H4 a few weeks ago!

Oh well, it was for a good cause.....recording music for my grandson who was in the hospital at the time.

Aloha,
John A.

I emailed the "Zoom" folks. The H2 will not be out until June or so.

Good news for SCSKSers. Buffalo Brothers has ordered them and will have them as soon as they are shipped to dealers. They have me down to get one and call me when they come in.

This looks like a fun recorder. It's lacking the effects and the XLR/1/4" inputs of the H4 (it does include an 1/8" external mic jack) but offers more flexible internal mics that includes the ability to do 5:1 surround sound.

I'm actually pretty happy with what the H4 can do and how easy it is to use, although it is my first recording experience.

Aloha,
John A.

The H4 is a great device and I would say the better choice for a musician if for no other reason than the input options.
