Just came across this while wasting time at the Elderly Instruments website:

http://elderly.com/articles/dopyera/

For the man or woman who wants the very best: The John and Rudy Dopyera Collection.

Reid? Get out yer checkbook.

Thanks, but no thanks, Mark. Got mine, made to order. And it isn't a hard to handle hybrid, nor a collector's item. I don't do collector stuff. A friend of mine does do collections, and we are just now having a hilarious discussion of what he should have a mythical maker make him, if, and when, the mythical maker (who resides and plays in the misty mountains of the southeast portion of the continent) decides to make him something, or not.

The Bros Dopyera interest me not.

My checkbook had a very unpainful experience in the acquisition of a hand built kika kila. Fantastically great ones are cheaper than `ukes. The Rodney Dangerfields of modern instruments.

I wash windows for Rudy's stepdaughter! She gave me an artdeco pocket mirror with a 1937 calendar on the back with the Dobro logo on it. Way cool!
Reid, how's the kika kila coming? Slipry1 has given me a tip about C13: The Bb can be tuned to A or C for a quick change of modus operandi.
