Hi all,

FYI, keep your eyes and ears open for the upcoming release of Ozzie Kotani's instructional DVD. I have not yet seen it but have heard that it is top notch.

Stay tuned here as I will post more information (in the video section) as soon as I have it.

Andy

I had the pleasure of spending some one-on-one time with Ozzie at his home last month. He told me about the DVD and I paid him for one but the shrink wrap wasn't done before I headed home. It is "in the mail". He said it is a "tell all" with really fine production. There are also a few songs as bonus at the end without tab for look/listen/learn style. Ozzie is a really good teacher and he had George Winston and Steve Sano review it for him -- they gave it high fives. If this one sells he will produce a second one with more advanced material.

Right now he is very busy getting his students prepared for a "student concert" in Honolulu. He said the talent he is teaching is really good and Honolulu will enjoy the fruits of their efforts. I think he said the concert is on the 8th.

Taking orders.....
And speaking of orders, does anyone from SCSKS or SoCal want any of the lei T-shirts? I'm already buying a stack so can add more.
It's way too cold here; 63 high.... can't wait for warm air, warm water. Will be there Monday...yay!!!!!

I gotta get that for Paul on accounta I love Kaula Ili...so much to that song! That Kani Ki Ho`alu is in that Ozzie book, isn't it? I think it must be because Paul has been playing it. It is very pretty.

To those that have the CD.
Are these lessons for beginers, intermediate, or (unlikely) advanced?
By the list of songs, it seems to be for new players again.

Both !!!

Pauoa Liko Ka Lehua -- INT/ADV
Kani Ki Ho'alu -- BEG
Molehu -- BEG
Awiwi -- BEG
Kaula Ili -- INT/ADV
Maika'i Ka Makani o Kohala -- INT/ADV

Then with the beginner songs Ozzie teaches how to improvise and embellish those songs (INT/ADV).

I'll say more after Andy has had a chance to review the DVD and post the details in the Slack Key Instruction [topic].
