Aloha all -
Well, I took my own advice and put up a myspace page. Kinda lame, cuz I'm a total newby at this 21st Century web 2.0 stuff. But check it out..

I guess you are "kewl" now like the young-uns. Why do you think you are looking like a loser? That is not even nice. I think you are "kewl". A myspace with that kind of nice music is definitely "kewl".

Well, Dog, it woulda been if I could just think of a funny way to say it. Any suggestions?
As for the missed connection stuff -- I haven't a clue. But seems like some folks can get through.
One more thing: I just uploaded a song from my old band Southern Light. I thought you all might enjoy it. I'll be rotating selected stuff from the archives up from time to time.

Hey, thanks for all the support. This is kinda fun, and great to learn so much more about some of the folks here on taropatch. Some of you guys can really play!
So, I have what maybe a really dumb question: how do you guys end up with multitudes of friends like Bob Marley, Janis Joplin, Gabby, John Fahey, Stevie Ray Vaughan... ummm, last time I looked those guys were all playing in the angel band.
I guess the real question has to do with the mechanics of My Space. How does the "freinds" deal work? What's the purpose of all the friends (beyond the fact that it's nice to check in with people who are simpatico)? But some folks have like 10 gazillion friends, many of who are pretty big deal famous type people like Mick Jagger. I mean, Mick's cool, and I think I'm kinda cool, but I can't see that happening.
I'm guessing it's to increase your site's visibility, which would be useful if you've got an online store or need to point folks to gig.
But, truth be told, I haven't a clue how to invite some one like Mick to hang as my friend. Or Keith, to be honest. After all, the guy plays in taropatch.

Hey Mark,
The sites for celebrities are generally run by someone other than the celebrity. They will even go so far as to send messages and comments on behalf of the celebrity.
As for "friends," doing friend requests has the benefit of having others visit your site. If someone is your friend, it also allows you to post a "comment" on their page. You can also send a mass event invite to your "friends." |

I do not spend a lot of time on myspace, but it is another way to connect with people. Cruising around listening to sound clips can be fun too. I delete quite a few friend requests because they seem porn related or trying to sell me some get rich quick scheme.
Mark, you can go to anyone's myspace page and request to be their friend. |
