Wow! I just learned that being the organizer of a luau charity event isn't all hard work and sweat...and stress. I just spent the evening with George, Martin, and Kimo Naylon, listening to them play and sing in the living room of the family that was kind enough to share their home with them for the weekend. What a treat! I even got a chance to play a tune or two with them. I was hella-nervous but I was remembering something that Bill Keale told me just a few days ago, and that this is the last of a generation of special Hawaiian artists and they won't be around forever. So I figured I shouldn't pass up an opportunity to share some music with some legendary musicians. Just watching them improvise on the guitars was amazing. Seems they favor slack key C tuning, whatever that's called. They are so cool and down to earth. Even though I chose a song that I was just learning and flubbed up on many times, they helped me through it and sang along... I never sounded better. Haha. They all had to hug me as I was reluctantly leaving for home and bed to get ready for the big day tomorrow, er, that's today now. I can hardly wait until it's showtime.

What? You mean high "E" is the TOP string. No way dude! That changes everything!

Wow. We met Martin & George in May,and found them to be very warm, friendly people. To get to play with them had to be very special. What song did you play? I suspect you won't be able to play it without remembering last night. Talk about special songs!
