My wife is a member of a Hula Halau here in Santa Cruz. She has also taken some Hawaiian language classes from Kalae Miles.

He sent her the following link.

That is just heart-warming. The music is "Life in These Islands" by Kaukahi. Their CD is awesome! If you don't have it, I encourage you to check it out.

Cool. I was a part of the kula kai apuni program in Palolo for two semesters. They didn't have there own football team yet. The players would join Roosevelt high school's football. team. When they did organize I thought that they could call plays and no one but another immersion school would understand. Going into immersion is like entering a new world. The entire mind set shifts into a culture that is basically foreign to the modern world. Yet modern issues were still faced on a daily basis. Many everyday occurrences would be addressed except the medium of discussion and communication was in 'olelo Hawai'i.

No'eau, eia au he mea pa'ani wale nō.

It was really very touching to hear the Papa so excited about learning the language. And encouraging that his son was the impetus. Mai ka`i.
