Does anyone know lyrics to Waterfall as frequently performed by the Makaha Sons? Unfortunately, it is not on any of the recordings I have by them, although I do have it on a DVD.

Mahalo for helping.

I have a friend who wrote me and told me it is a JIMI HENDRIX song. I never would thunk.

Thank you, friend, for making the surprise of the day.

Wanda,

May This Be Love (Waterfall) Lyrics
ยป Jimi Hendrix

Waterfall
Nothing can harm me at all
My worries seem so very small
With my waterfall

I can see
My rainbow calling me
Through the misty breeze
Of my waterfall

Some people say
Daydreaming's for all the
Lazy minded fools
With nothin' else to do
So let them laugh, laugh at me
So just as long as I have you
To see me through
As long as I have you

Waterfall
Don't ever change your ways
Fall with me for a million days
Oh, my waterfall

By the way, Owana Salazar Does a medley on her "Wahine Slack and Steel" cd

with Waterfall and Hi'ilawe.

"The music of the Hawaiians, the most fascinating in the world, is still in my ears and
haunts me sleeping and waking."

Wanda,

Were those the lyrics you were after, and were you able to check out the Owana Salazar version?

Paul is away playing Mountain Man at a rendesvous and I do not know how to run the dad-blamed DVD player. I know, I know, that is pretty pitiful for one who can read complex blue prints with all kind of geometric positioning and tolerancing, but I just can't make the damn thing do anything other than show the titles or chapters or whatever and can't make it go. Why isn't there a button on the remote that says play the dad-blamed DVD? I do not own any Owana Salazar music. I suppose I should get some, yeah? The lyrics look OK by me, though from what I remember. I have something to start with and I can listen and shorthand what they sing.

Actually, it is a Jimi Hendrix melody with a completely new lyric by Willie K.

Waterfall
Tumbling right down the wall
Waiting for you, my love
And me

I can see
A lovely paradise
Built there within your eyes
From my waterfall

Dream on
Dream of your fantasies
A place for you and me
My love

Spread your wings
Spread your wings and fly away
Fly to that distant star
From my waterfall

The Makaha Sons sing Willie K.'s lyric (without attributing the melody to Jimi Hendrix). Owana Salazar sings Jimi's lyric and melody and rightfully attributes both to him.

Of course, in both cases, these medleys make no sense to me. "Drums Of The Islands" is a love song for a place, and Willie K's "Waterfall" is a love song for a woman. "Hi`ilawe" is about a love affair disapproved of by the local community, and Hendrix's "Waterfall" seems to be about the love of...well...a waterfall. Can someone help make the connections for me?

If you want a medley of songs that make sense, how about Mary Kawena Pukui and Maddy Lam's "No Ke Aha" and Reba McEntire's "You Came Along One Promise Too Late?"

Or how about Lena Machado's "Kauoha Mai" and Shania Twain's "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?"

Or how about "Hilahila`ole `Oe" and Hank Williams' "Move It On Over?"

Or how about "Hi`ilawe" and Barbara Mandrell's "If Loving You Is Wrong, I Don't Want To Be Right?"

This would be an interesting thread: Name a Hawaiian song and the American pop songs about the same topic...

Like Gabby singing Wahine U`i and Roy Orbison singing Pretty Woman?
Or Lei Ohu and "To all the girls I've loved before"
Hula o Makee and Ruby, Don't Take your love to town?

Bill I had no idea that the Makaha Sons version was so vastly different from the Salazar version. Thanks for the correction. As for the connection...both waterfalls will get you wet.
