Please hold Wanda a little closer in your hearts, and prayers. What she thought was a bad cold is pneumonia, and she has apparantly had a heart attack. Not yet sure how serious or how long ago. She's in the ICU, and responding well to antibiotics for the pneumonia. She misses talking to y'all, and the nurse caught her doing hula next to her bed yesterday, wires, hoses and all. More info as it becomes available. Mahalo. Paul

Paul, So very sorry to hear about Wanda. She is such an important part of the Taropatch Ohana. Please tell her that I'm sending her best wishes, from the West Coast, for a short stay in the hospital. I think that she was the first person to respond to to one of my posts, when I fist came to Taropatch. I hope that you are doing well and taking care of yourself. You are both in my thoughts. I don't have much influence in the divine-aid department, but I can report that my 85-year-old mother just came through a bout of pneumonia pretty well--and her pre-existing conditions include congestive heart disease, some emphysema, and a history of stroke. But the docs fed her 57 varieties of antibiotics and sent her home in nine days, where she feels just fine (for 85). Pneumonia (like old age) isn't for sissies, but there's plenty of reason to believe Wanda will come through this and be able to get rid of the hospital plumbing and do her hula unemcumbered.

On the positive side, at least now the docs will give her a good look and nip anything else in the bud too. That would be a Hibiscus or Plumeria bud of course :) After that, Wanda sould expect a long and healthy retirement. My best wishes. |

Let me add another voice to the well-wishers for Wanda. I always enjoy her thought provoking questions and her insights here in the taro patch. Here's hoping for a full recovery and a speedy return.
