Hoku, Jerry, and Barry are doing a fantastic job tonight. Couple weeks ago I got a shout from Hoku from the stage at Pakele Live.

Not sure. I think he plays a D tuning, often tuned up to E. Is it DADF#AD? |

When we saw him last year, he had two guitars on stage in different tunings. I think one was standard, but we didn't ask about the other. Paul |

Jerry's slacked guitar had a 6th-string for the root bass note, so D tuning sounds right. I loved that extended medley they did, too. It was nice to see Auntie Maria during the broadcast. Mahalo to her for helping to sponsor the webcast. Jesse

That Jerry -- such a cut-up!
It was truly wonderful to see him and the entire Olomana gang perform at the HARA Lifetime Achievement luncheon on Saturday...and receive their individual awards. Willie & Wally have been part of Olomana since the early days -- and when Robert Beaumont passed, having Haunani step in for their "Enduring Pride" album, was brilliant.
These luncheons are a delight. The audience is filled with musicians -- mostly veterans (shame on the young'uns who fail to support by attending and paying tribute!) -- and luminaries from TV, etc. The performances by the recipients always offer something special. But it's the historical films they run about each recipient, which are priceless. Pictures from small kid time...family photos...high school graduation piled-high-with-lei photos. Got to see Robert & Roland in their high school ROTC garb; Jimmy Borges all dressed up at age 4 or 5; Jerry & Robert in "the good ol' days", and more. Great stuff!
