Woo-hoo!!! Cousin Patrick is gonna play some beautiful music! Patrick, honey, you've been way too quiet. I know, I know, hard to raise keiki on a musician's paycheck. But, anyhow,, this is way cool. Did you ever tell Cyril about the week at Davis & Elkins where that guy bought your aloha shirt at the silent auction and then gave it back to you. That was a great lesson in aloha. I will never forget it. Here I was, Greedy Smurf that I am, bidding against him so I could win the shirt because you said it was one that Cyril gave you. I figures it would be a swell keepsake, and probably all them folks in West Virginia wouldn't have the foggiest idea who is Cyril Pahinui. But this guy just wanted to win the auction for the shirt so he could give it back to you because he was touched that you donated it for the auction. Chicken skin, brah.
Good luck to you and Cyril on your shows. All you west coast guys -- make sure you go see Patrick and Cyril. I've seen them together twice and it is a thrill of a lifetime!
Paul is going to be way excited. |

Patrick and Cyril may or may not remember doing a concert several years back in a town called Lewiston, ID where I met those guys in person for the very first time. I believe I even forced them to eat some of my infamous boiled peanuts too.
I was pleasantly surprised at the number of Hawaiians and misplaced and displaced folks from Hawai'i who showed up in that inland town, but the music was magic which made the 3-hour road trip during the cold onset of winter well worth it for our little convoy from Daboonies, WA.
Best wishes on your upcoming shows, guys!
Aloha, braddah ed |

Yeah, that was something else Wanda and yes Ed, I remember Lewiston, ID, it was freezing cold but we had a lot of fun! I remember playing in front of 500 5th graders in an assembly...I told Uncle Cyril, "Don't worry chief, I'll get them ready for you" .. by the time I was finished they were well behaved awaiting the Legend! YES I remember Lewiston, great times!
Great to hear from you folks! Hope to see all of you soon!

Your memory's better than mine! Now I remember you telling me about all those kids for whom you and Cyril performed for earlier that day. I think it was the following year when we drove up to see you, Dennis & David Kamakahi, Herb Ohta, Jr., and da drama king from da big island, who just posted up there above you, at Centerstage in Spokane. Scuze eh, but I brought my boiled peanuts over there too. Only for special occasions. |

Aloha Patrick,
Great show last night at Don Quixote's. I had not seen you perform live before, so it was a great treat for me to see how talented you are. Santa Cruz is just down the road from Berkeley, so we hope to see more of you.
It was so nice to see Uncle Cyril enjoying himself so much and I know you had a lot to do with that.
Also, thanks for bringing Patti Maxine up on stage with you. All of us in the Santa Cruz area treasure her so much. She really is "The Queen Of Steel".
