.

As is the usual case, the N.C. Ukulele festival was a mix of fairly amateur performances done by wannabes (much like myself), and also performances by totally seasoned professionals.

I find it fun to watch both kinds of performers, and I am very glad that the organizers want to include both kinds. Of course, the fact that they do not pay professional performance fees means that the pros who do show up, perform strictly for fun or on a Loss-Leader basis.

I would rather have it the way that the Ogao/Baker Ohana's put it together as an all inclusive but low-end "blue collar" sort of affair, than to have it be an all "top-tier" event that I have to pay $75 to $150 to attend and at which no amateurs are allowed.

This is just my personal opinion about what is enjoyable about this particular event. I have gone to many, many of the expensive "top-tier" kind of events and I find it very refreshing to have some "down-home" fun.

Plus, being an amateur (and probably always one as far a Music performance is concerned), I enjoy the fact that I can sometimes perform at the event myself (hopefully with some accompaniment)!

And of course, there were some outstanding performances by some very, very talented performers (both pro and amateur) this year as well.

All in all a very enjoyable day, as it usually is.

Thanks to Rosanne, Carmen, the Baker Ohana, and the other 150 people who volunteer to put this thing on for the last 15 years or so.
