Now that the TaroPatch CD is out, those who didn't (or couldn't) contribute are obviously still interested in hearing what others in the TaroPatch `ohana sound like. Since all the CD contributors agreed (for copyright reasons) not to share the CD with anyone who didn't contribute, I thought there might be an alternative way to make some of our member's songs available for everyone to hear.
Are those of you who contributed original songs to the CD, or anyone else who has an original arrangement of a public domain song, willing to share your performance with everyone else? If so, let me know...I have already set up a page at www.soundclick.com/taropatch that can be used to host the songs (I'll take care of converting to MP3 and posting to the site). You can either post a reply here or email me directly at craig @ patchett.com
Again, songs to be considered for public posting should either be originals or an original arrangement of a public domain song. Another artist's arrangement of a traditional song is not OK unless you have permission from that artist. Same for your own arrangement of another artist's song. If in doubt, check first. This is for your protection and mine.

Aloha Craig,
I think you may have open up a can of worms. And then again, Maybe not!
I think it would be nice that some of the other taro patch members have a chance to hear what you all have recorded. Maybe others wanted to contribute, But probably had there own personal reasons why they could'nt.
Who knows, Maybe one of your recordings might just inspire some of the other members, Or those that might want to take up slack key. Just like how we all started, We were inspired by someone else. But again, This is fully all up to the artist, You all did the hard work.
But is'nt Taro Patch.Net... All about sharing?
Congradulation to those that recorded.

OK, for those of you who missed out on the CD, the first public song is up at SoundClick...I got permission from Ozzie to post my attempt at Kani Ki Ho`alu. As soon as I get my copy of the CD I'll post Fran's song as well. Enjoy!

I'd like to weigh in on the CD distribution issue. First of all, CPATCH: thanks for the soundclick link. Second, I check out the Taro Patch regularly, but I don't and can't read everything every day. I totally missed the initial call for contributions. I regularly meet and play with at least 4 of the contributors, and despite that, by the time I heard about the effort, it was pretty much a done deal; everyone had completed recording. I'd like to hear the recordings and I'll probably be able to get some of them from the contributors that I know. If cpatch can get the posts up, we'd all be able to hear some of them.

It is always inspiring to me when I hear other musicians expressing themselves through their music. Thank you to those who are willing to share their talents and time to promote “Slack-Key”guitar stylings throughout the world. |

Sob, I can't play the music. I prefer to use Winamp for streaming audio but accidentally clicked the wrong button when MSIE asked a question once, and now I can't stream. I'd love to hear all you guys, too. |

Craig,
You can put mine (Hula Medley) on your page. I asked Hal Kinnaman. Since mine is a different arrangement, he said it's OK to use it. Just don't mention his name in the song credits. On the CD you gave me, the volume is too low on my song. Can you boost it? |

Pauline, open a Windows Explorer (not MSIE) window and select Tools->Folder Options->File Types from the menus. Scroll down until you see M3U in the first column. Click the Edit button and associate it with Winamp. That should fix the problem. If not, email me at craig @ patchett.com and I'll see if I can help.
I've also updated the SoundClick page so you can download the songs as MP3s as well as stream them. |

OK, three more songs have been added to the TaroPatch band page for a total of four. Another one will be added tonight. All have MP3s available for download or can be streamed. Enjoy!
