I have three classical guitars -- nothing fancy, but good sound. I mostly use High Tension Hense strigs. These are from Germany -- I get them from a US distributor over the Net. Excellent response at a full step lower, can go two steps without too much flopping. Their carbon trebles are bright but not tinny. Bottom line, they sound best on my guitars -- except for the old Houser classical -- It prefers Hannebach High Tension Carbon Trebles. However, I just got a sample pack of Deam Markly's new concert series nylons, but them on yesterday -- seem quite good and cheap. Problem seems to be that they are taking longer to get set to their pitch.

Pauline,

I use Martin light gauge strings on my D-18 and on my National N model and I usually don't wear finger or thumb picks. For u'kulele I use Hilo or D'Addario.
