Waaaaah. I dunno what to do. I've got it on photo bucket, but I do not know how to make it available for public viewing. Can anyone educate me. Jay took some great pictures. Especially of that CUTE Ocean Kaowili. |

I looked at the pictures from the link with no problem. I gotta say when I saw Frank Hewitt, I get chicken skin. I remember seeing him one night at Surf Rider doing an impromptu set with Jerry Santos. It was the most incredible hula I ever saw, before or since. It came flooding back with all the associated goosebumps. Maholo for sharing the pix, and mahalo nui to Cyril and 'ohana for the event. Wish I could have been there... Aloha Allen |

One of the vendors at Kalama this past weekend had an autographed poster from the festival on display at his booth (not for sale); Brother Noland saw it and exclaimed "Hey - I was just dea!" |

Alooohaa- With the permission of Bruddah Jay, Wanda, and Kathleen, I mixed their photos with some audio and video I shot at about noon on that day to create a short slide/video show. Bruddah Duke sez the music is Don Kaulia. Can somebody confirm that? I was sitting way back grinding the kalua pig plate with my baby so I wasn't really watching the stage.

You did a nice job, Kawika. Mmm...in addition to the ono music, I see there was some ono kalua pig, rice, soup and haupia. You and Jay and Duke and all those other folks were right there where some history was made. And you and Jay and Kathleen were the historians documenting the occasion for those of us too far away to join in honoring Gabby's memory. I love your credits at the end. And the "all pau". And your daughter is going to become quite the famous young lady, because I am sure lots and lots of people, more than just our Taro Patch `ohana will be gazing at her bright smile.
Tanks, eh. |

Howzit!
Kawiks...its true, JJ Ahuna (Darlene's exHubby)on bass, Chucky Boy's brother Victor Chock on Uke, Ben Kaili on guitar, Aunty Diane Aki on ukulele and myself on slack key guitar. I was invited by Pops Cyril Pahinui in Kona to play at the event...we followed Willy K then I stay on to play with Noland on his set. Thanks fo putting us on YouTube...even Brother Noland, Mike Kaawa and Myself is on YouTube for the Maui Slack Key Fest. I did the same thing in Waikiki on Nolands' set...as a duet.
Saturday we'll all be a Huggo's on the Rocks for a preconcert 6pm-930pm...Brother Noland, Walt Keale, Kaukahi, Mike Kaawa, Makana....then Sunday at the Keauhou Sheraton Bay Resort.
Aloha, Don Kaulia |
