A master chanter and kumu hula who learned from his cousin's wife, Aunty Maiki Lake, John Lake passed away yesterday. He ran the Hawaiian program at St. Louis School.

Here is an article at the Honolulu Advertiser: http://honoluluadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080515/NEWS01/805150355/1001

Sadly, the Ho‘oilina Concert, originally scheduled with Kumu Lake and Aunty Nona, will go on without them tomorrow night on Maui. Emma Veary and Kevin Brown will still participate, though.

Tonight, Pomaika`i Lyman will do a tribute to her grandmother, Genoa Keawe in Kahului. I'll be there.

Aloha,
