Bad people calling no big ting. Jus hang up.
Real problem is programs that scan the web and collect this info- then you get spammed with more pharmacies selling viagra and what not. And my friend has been getting a lot of the "nigerian scam" letters lately after posting his address on line- they send you a big check from Canada; you're supposed to Western Union half the money to them after you cash the check (all to avoid the Postal Inspection Service). The money is given to you on some flimsy pretext, and there is some "good" reason why you are supposed to send them some.
The problem is the checks are good enough to cash- then later, sometimes two weeks later, you get a call from the bank telling you it was a forgery and you owe them a bunch of money. Police aren't interested in doing anything about it either- check from Canada, no return address, you are supposed to send the money to Texas after calling New York for instructions- it is all so complex that it is too much hassle for them to want to do anything. Mo bettah go eat one donut, no?
So, unless you enjoy spam and getting involved in bank fraud, 'Alika's advice is good.
