I wanted to share this link. Record Attendance at the 2008 Hawai`i Potluck Picnic in Central Park. What a great day we had yesterday in Central Park. The weather was just perfect.

Hard to imagine we were in Manhattan with the sunshine, great company, hula, mele, and more. Hopefully, photos will be posted soon. It was very cool to have special guests from the previous night's show at Carnegie Hall come join us.

Andy: Format of CarnegieHall concert was so different fm that of M'Sons' concerts last year NewHampshire&Maryland sides that 4 of us that attended are wondering if something more than the group's obviously intense bereavement was happening. Bare stage(not even a rented palm tree); very brief performance by supposed headliners(MakahaSons); no hana hou(Harry Soria's obviously rushed and mis-timed call for one, was sad and pointless);extended performances by musicians not really of CarnegieHall's usual standards. High point, as was at picnic, was the Hawaiian hula halaus' work, especially the keiki. Whass da haps? Mahalo.

I couldn't make the show at Carnegie Hall so I cannot speak to that. I was hoping to see the Sons at the picnic, but they couldn't make it.

The good news is that the Mākaha Sons are scheduled to return to the Triad in New York in September. Another unique opportunity to see them in an intimate atmosphere. They had so much fun last year that they want to come back to the same venue.

I will most likely be at the New York show but will try making it to New Hampshire too. I really enjoyed the people and venue.

Here's a slide show of the picnic.

From the slide show I now know that I planned our week-end WRONG. And we missed the best part of New York because of our train leaving at 4:00. We left the Picnic way to early. Looks like a wonderful time was had by all. And since I got to enjoy good friends and see the wonderful Hula the night before it was fun. This was our first trip into New York in a very long time and quite an experence we had. Still recovering from the taxi ride to the train station. Country mouse is back home well not really I am on my way to Tucson Arizona to visit my son for a week. Then I will be home.
