was the perfect antidote to the CarnegieHall pilikia we attended 3 wks earlier. After recording w/Yo-Yo Ma(h) earlier on Saturday, thunderstorms cancelled Jake's flt fm NYC-MA. Sooooo, he came by car!!It's never a fun drive but summer weekends are wretched. Did his own sound check; talked a little story; got properly introduced and then, to quote Paul Simon, "blew that room away." Selections ranged fm "Ave Maria," to LedZeppelin's "Going to California." His passion&technical excellence onstage were complemented, perfectly, by his on&off-stage personal warmth. He signed my grand-dau's uke with "Malama mele." That expression should be considered as a possible title for his next c.d. OR any of his appearances.
