No video archive, but there are some clips on YouTube ("hoaikane" posts some - check 'em out! Clips from Hoku Zuttermeister, Jerry Santos, Del Beazley, John Cruz, Ken Makuakane, Weldon, Uncle Cyril, more...). http://www.youtube.com/user/hoaikane

Also, OC16 will start broadcasting the show the end of this month, and Tony said they have something like 7 different time slots they'll be showing it in. It won't be live, but no matter! If you're not here in Hawai'i you can watch on the OC16 website.

Tony and Pali are in the process of booking lots more folks - soooo much fun! (Alana - when are you gonna come down??? Take da bus - drops you right in front by the shopping center!)

Aloha!

Lynn

Aloha Lynn! I know that da bus drops me in front by the shopping center. One of these days, I will drop by Pakele Live before I get too old... lol. Mahalo for being a friend.

Auntie Maria,

Thanks for posting this...and mahalo for posting news about the Palani Vaughn concert at Embassy Suites Beach Walk on June 29.

I was in Waikiki after Aloha Music Camp and was looking for live music to see before heading back to the East coast.
I never thought I would get to see Palani Vaughn live, but I happened to check mele.com and you had the concert information right there!

Palani was so striking, almost haunting...he has a very Hawaii golden age beard now, quite different from the old album covers.

It was so moving to hear him perform and watch the dancers from a halau I did not get the name of. He played for over an hour and a half. Lots of kane hula. His voice was powerful.

Thanks for the tip.

I wasn't there, but can tell you that his daughter, kumu hula Hiwa Vaughan, and her halau hula were scheduled to perform with Palani:

Hiwa dances magnificently!

...which now leaves Aug 7 open (their originally-announced performance date).

All of these gigs -- despite the best plans -- are subject to change. Pali tries to keep me informed, but he's a busy guy and sometimes I don't get news of changes.

Watch the Pakele Live website for performance updates:

Mahalo, Auntie. Can never get enough of Nathan Aweau. Da only problem with watching for those performance updates is that as of this posting, that web page hasn't been updated for about a month.
