Wanda doesen't post this kind. The banjo player sitting down on stage is the Legendary Uncle Dave Macon. The real question is: What kind of acordion gadget is the guy playing towards the end of the clip? I never sausage a thing. Paul Oh yeah, here's the link. http://youtube.com/watch?v=hC8ubxT_SP0

Hey, Paul - it's a harmonium = kind of a pump organ, rigged up so the pumps are on his feet insted of being run by pedals. I forget the name of the guy playing it, but he, the old woman playing mondolin and the other old guy playing mandolin are the "??" family. Of course, there is Uncle Dave, with his son, Dorris, playing guitar behind him. The rest of the musiciains are Rpy Acuff and the Smoky Mountain boys (Roy, Bashful Brother Oswald (Pete Kirby)on Dobro, and others). I'll look it up and bring you the answer when I see you in August. BTW, the movie is included in the 11 disc Uncle Dave Boxed set from Bear Family. It's worth the investment! Uncle Dave rules!!! |

As I said to Paul, I have the movie on DVD. It's not great cinema by any means, but it is a good historical record of country music in the late 30's and contains good footage of Uncle Dave.

I looked at the Bear Family Uncle Dave set when it first came out, but I could see the Bear Family was gonna cost me big bread, so I stopped short of getting in hock. They reissue a TON of out-of-print/hard to find Old Time music. Sooner or later, I'll end up over budget with them. Too many box sets, and rarities to learn from. I stay like one keiki in a candy store. Paul |
