As many of you may know, I like to make handmade cards. Give me an excuse and I'll make a card. I was bemoaning the fact that August has no holidays for which I could make a card and one of my cardiac rehab friends told me that there was National Friendship Day in August. I had never heard of that holiday and did a google search to see if that was true. It was indeed, true, and look at all the other holidays for which I can make cards - wee-ha!

Look at August 17th. How shall we celebrate that day? I am not sure of making a card for that occasion.

August Holidays

1 – National Work Like a Dog Day
2 – National Mustard Day
3 - Friendship Day
4 - National Chocolate Chip Day
5 - Psychic Sunday
6 - National Fresh Breath Day
7 - Particularly Preposterous Packaging Day
8 - Sneak Some Zucchini onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Night
9 - International Day of the World’s Indigenous People
10 - S’mores Day
12 – Vinyl Record Day
13 – International Lefthander’s Day
14 – National Navajo Code Talker’s Day
15 – National Relaxation Day
16 – Sandcastle Day
17 – Meaning of “is” day
18 – Bad Poetry Day
19 – Root Beer Float Day
22– Southern Hemisphere Hoodie Hoo Day
23 – Rudolph Valentino Day
24 – National Waffle Day
25 – Kiss & Make Up Day
26 – National Dog Day
28 – Crackers Over the Keyboard Day
29 – More Herbs, Less Salt Day
30 – National Toasted Marshmallow Day
31 – Love Litigating Lawyers Day

August 17, 1998...the infamous response from then-President Bill Clinton to the grand jury:

Q: That statement is a completely false statement. Whether or not Mr.
Bennett knew of your relationship with Ms. Lewinsky, the statement
that there was "no sex of any kind in any manner, shape or form, with
President Clinton," was an utterly false statement. Is that correct?

A: It depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is.

Perhaps it should be renamed National Ambiguity Day. (Depending, of course, on what you mean by "ambiguity.")

I received an e-mail that educated me about an important date that I missed:

... some folks would not count this as cause for celebration, but Hawai`i Statehood Day is Aug. 21. I noticed there was no holiday for that date in your list!

Amends have been made.
