This is just an observation. Recently I had my Martin returned from repair and it was re-strung with regular stings (d'addario). This is the guitar I use for taropatch and close variations.
I had been using Nanowebs on all my guitar because of squeaks but I discovered that I can use regular strings without a problem on all tunings except F Wahine. For some reason I squeak like crazy in that tuning. So, now I have been using Nanowebs only on my F Wahine guitar.
I still think Nano's sound good but the regular strings sound a little better and are half the cost.
To my ear regular strings start out sounding a little better but quickly deteriorate to the point where they sound the same or worse than the Nanos. The Nanos also last more than twice as long, so the difference in cost is negligible (especially if you factor in the time spent changing strings). YMMV, of course.
Craig My goal is to be able to play as well as people think I can.
