I hope there is a great turn out. Wish I could be there. What a wonderful line up.

Be sure to bring something to sit upon...blanket or low-back chair. This is great venue...as long as it doesn't rain.

Here's more info from my newsletter today:

The annual (and FREE!) "Live From the Lawn" Grammy nominees concert takes place from 6-9 p.m. Friday (Jan. 16) at the Hawai'i State Art Museum (250 Hotel St.). Scheduled to appear:

Amy Hanaiali‘i – 'Aumakua; Led Kaapana and Mike Kaawa – Force of Nature; Various Artists (David Kahiapo, LT Smooth, Donald Kaulia, Stephen Inglis, and Chris Lau) – Hawaiian Slack Key Kings Masters Series Vol. II; and Various Artists (Sonny Lim, Keoki Kahumoku, Owana Salazar, and Dennis Kamakahi) – The Spirit of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar The Spirit of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar. (Artists are subject to change.) Due to a scheduling conflict, Tia Carrere and Daniel Ho - "'ikena" - are unable to appear.

The concert will be recorded for later broadcast (simulcast) on KITV and OC 16 (viewable online as well - on their websites). In the past they've provided the broadcast date at the concert - I'll provide details as soon as I can! If you attend, you can bring lawn chairs, beach mats, and picnic food, but NO alcoholic beverages. (You can also buy food from Downtown @ HiSAM, Hank’s Haute Dogs, Le Crepe Café, and Café de Cuba.)

Please be aware - since this concert is being recorded for TV, there are many cords for the cameras, lights, etc. running across the lawn - and there are camera operators moving around with portable cameras, as well as a boom operator, etc. - so watch where you walk! There can also be some starts/stops/retakes to account for sound or video problems that might occur, so be sure to bring something comfortable to sit on. (HiSAM has previously spread a number of beach mats out for audience members to use, but they fill quickly!)

Hope this helps... and I'll try to come say hi to da boloheads, if they don't get blown away or drowned - ha ha! (I jus heard da weather report on TV - auwe! Batten down the hatches!)

(Norm - I wish you and Denise could be here, too!)

Aloha!

Lynn

Sounds like fun. I'll try and make it down there. If not, I guess I'll have to watch it on tv. If they are filming for tv do you know the date and time?

Let's all pray for good weather for the event! We can hear the pounding surf already. So far just a few gusts of wind, very little rain. Hopefully we can make it.

Wow - a lot of Carmel's shots look like she was sitting right on top of me (looks like they were taken from almost the same angle as my pics)!

I posted mine on my Facebook page, if anybody's interested (you'll see what I mean about the angle!). Some are from sound check before the whole thing got started, and the rest are from the actual taping of the show (and all the stuff that happened in between each act). BTW, the anchor's name is Paula Akana from KITV news - she also co-hosts the Merrie Monarch broadcast with Kimo Kahoano...
