Humans "pigeonhole" others outside their immediate circle of acquaintances as a way to keep track them and as a type of emotional shorthand. Thus, awards and ceremonies when the support most needed is realy from the circle of friends and family. A friend of mine told me, "Something happens when people are put in rows." A part of their humanity is stripped from them, as only a part of their humanity is considered. Eh, Peter, get chance erry day fo any kine---kanikapila, shave ice, talk story lidat. |

Kory -
I love that "Something happens when people are put in rows." It reminds me of a "Zen Telegram" by Paul Reps years ago: In sumi e, he drew a bunch of people - adults, children, tall, short - all standing together and he drew a ring around them. He captioned it - "Human Arrangement by Flowers." |

Well, funny you should ask, I'm actually trying to get that resolved by the start of March.. *fingers crossed* I'll post on here/email Hoaikane when it's a go. Probably in a week or two as well, we're going to go to double resolution on the streams.
Mahalo for watching!
I wonder if any resolution has been made regarding this topic. I have been very said since Mr. Pali sent Mr. Hoaikane that e-mail requesting him to refrain from sharing the videos. |

lol, well, it wasn't mr.pali's fault that someone made a big stink about it :) ..a resolution is being worked on right now, and I believe by end of this week/start of next, it *should* be a go again.
of course, unless this bill gets passed: http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/session2009/Bills/SB1005_.pdf

Eh? Someone fussin' at you over something as convoluted as copyright law, publishing rights and all that mess?
It'd be easier wading through three foot worth of muck dodging 'gators and 'moccasins. |

Interesting legislation. Why the state legislature does not use proper diacritical marks for the words such as Hawai`i vs. their use of Hawaii. One would expect the legislature, those representing Hawaiian residents would be pono about using the correct language. I wonder how that affects the legality of the legislation, since there is no state called Hawaii, that it is Hawai`i. |

But I am sorry, I forgot to thank you, Pali. I hope Hoaikane has not faded into the woodworks since posting those vids was pau. I sure hope he would be interested in sharing them with us once again. That was our only tenuous tie to the great music of Hawai`i without staying up way too late for Paul to go to work in the morning. And me, I surely need lots of beauty sleep. (Maybe someday beauty sleep will accomplish what it is supposed to!) |

For official State business, the Government spells it without `okina. It's that way on the State Seal, too.

From what I understand from P, the 2008 shows are still off limits for replay. It'll be from the shows from the new 2009 series that potentially will get the ok for some kind of archiving of some sort.
The details are still fuzzy 'round the edges yet.
But that pending bill could stop any type of archiving entirely. |

Diacriticals were not widely used in 1959. They just never change um cause it probably has to be legislated. And you know how fast those bodies work. |

I helped Sen. Kalani English draft legislation a few years ago which was similar to what Mele Carroll has introduced. It never made it out of committee after DAGS (Dept. of Accounting and General Services) complained/exaggerated about how much it would cost to implement (I forget what the figure was they cited but was in the millions). |
